A signed Peter V. Bianchi frontier oil on canvas. This painting depicts a frontiersman holding a large rifle with a hunting dog to his side. To the hunter’s left is a tree carved with the names of famous frontiersmen. The piece is signed to the lower right and presented in a beveled wooden frame. To the verso, the canvas is also signed with an address. Listed artist Bianchi (1920-2001) was from Kenosha, WI, and worked as a scientific illustrator for National Geographic, though most of his paintings feature religious motifs and figures, a passion which is still referenced here in the ‘J.M.J’ (Jesus, Mary, and Joseph) letters above the artist’s signature.

Condition

Frame is in bad condition and painting is coming out of the frame. Painting itself is in good condition though.
