Original Satirical Lithograph Prints by Honoré Daumier

Item Details

A collection of three satirical lithograph prints by Honoré Victorin Daumier (French, 1808-1879). Referred to as the “Michelangelo of Caricature,” Daumier prolifically satirized 19th century Paris with his drawings and prints. This selection includes a piece from his Idylles Parlementaires series with ‘Imp de Me Ve Aubert’ marked in-plate to the lower right, Voyage en Chine marked ‘imp d’ Aubert & Cle.’ at the lower right and Pastorales marked ‘imp d’ Aubert & Cle.’ at the lower right. Each piece depicts figures from French life in the 1800’s in a silly manner. Reverse images of text from the pages of a newspaper or magazine can be seen lightly through the front of the prints and each one has a long caption in French. The artist signed each print in-plate and they are presented in black, beveled wood frames.
