A rare original oil pastel drawing on masonite by listed op artist Margaret Wenstrup (Cincinnati, Ohio, 1930-2008). The subject matter is a departure from Wenstrup’s typical non-representational graphic line work and optical illusions, depicting six thumbnail vignettes of landscapes with water, trees, and hills. This piece is not signed by the artist, but comes directly from Wenstrup’s portfolio of work consigned by her estate. This piece is not framed.Wenstrup graduated from the Art Academy of Cincinnati, lived and worked in New Richmond, OH, and is known as a pioneer of Mid-Century Modernism and Op Art. Her art is recognized for her bold use of color and large scale work.
