Antique Brass National Cash Register

An antique brass National cash register. This cash register features a single glass encased screen that is visible on both sides and indicates ’dollars’and ‘cents’ due and the process of payment method such as ‘paid out.’ The keys on the right side of the register includes single numbers 1-9 and numbers in ten incriminates from 10-90 depicted in black. There are also common dollar amounts depicted in red keys. The left side includes a single row of five buttons of words such as ‘paid out,’ ‘change,’ and cash.’ In between the screen and the buttons is a hidden compartment that houses two functions for ‘customer counter’ and a ‘resetting counter.’ This piece is presented in repoussé filigree work and is inscribed ‘National’ on the cash drawer and to the back of the register. It is featured in serial number S152905L 1054-C.’
