Carved Antique Bureau Hutch

Item Details

An antique bureau hutch with intricate carving. The upper portion of the piece has a curved pediment featuring a carving of rolled paper and quill surrounded by leaves, rosette carved fretwork, owl capitals to latticed pilasters, carved sides, and a glass paneled door that encloses a series of three shelves. The bottom half is topped by a pull out writing surface, an acanthus leaf adorned drawer with key hole. The cabinet door below has delicate carved work, scrolled brass corner plates, and an Asian inspired applied inlay composed of carved and painted bone featuring a figure in a kimono and a flowing tree. This is flanked by twisted pilasters and opens to shelving and cubbies. The key is included, which is used for the top and bottom cabinet and the drawer.
