Antique Sterling Company Organ
Item Details
An antique organ from the Sterling Piano Company, circa 1870s or 1880s. This pump organ has cutout scroll details on the front top, under the keyboard, and on the side of the front stiles. The top has a recessed shelf, the sides of which have carved flower detail at the top, fluted framing, and a turned handle. There are candle holders out to each side on carved arms. The front has fluted framing on the bottom, and a floral carving just above the pedals. The bench has a triangular base with needlepoint seat. The organ is adorned with two pottery urns and two candles in carriers.
The Sterling Piano Company operated in Derby, Connecticut from 1873-1967, but made organs only during the first couple of decades of operation, focusing thereafter on pianos.
This item is located downstairs and will require being moved up a set of stairs.
