Original Pablo Picasso Lithograph
Item Details
An original lithograph by the most revered artist to date, Pablo Picasso (1881-1973). This original lithograph is double signed, to the bottom right hand corner, by the artist both in plate and in blue crayon. The print is part of a limited edition as signified by the numbering to the bottom left hand corner 112/200. The print is entitled ‘Colombe volant,’ or ‘Dove Flying’ and is dated 28/12/61. The image reflects just what the title suggests, a dove, outlined in blue, soars on an empty page holding a green olive branch proudly in its beak. A beautifully simple image, strong in its statement, a staunch proclamation of peace as that which is most divine. An utterly pure assertion of what’s most truly important for humanity to achieve. This incredible print, of which there are only 200 in the world, is immaculately presented wooden frame with undulating waves, gold gilt, and a single white mat terminating in a gold bevel at edge.
‘Regarding the canon of art history, no other artist has exerted such influential gusto and breadth as Pablo Picasso. The dean of Modernism, Picasso challenged conventions in nearly every institutionalized medium available throughout his career. His stylistic pluralism, legendary reconfiguration of pictorial space and inexhaustible creative force have made Picasso one of the most revered artists of the 20th century.’ – williambennettgallery.com
