Item Details
A fine, handwoven Mashad area rug. The wool rug features an elegant eight-pointed star medallion in the center with large pendants on a white ground, densely patterned with arabesques of floral scrollwork, floral and foliate patterns rendered in great detail. It has a palette of white, sky blue, pale blue, deep ruby red, green, mauve, taupe and black. The Compound border features a main border having a field of large, ornate, palmettes on a ruby field, flanked by detailed guard borders in complementary colors. Is has a thick warp fringe to either end and is unmarked.
