An unframed signed limited edition aquatint etching on rag paper with deckled edges titled The Universe Mender IV, dated 1990, by well-listed and renowned Neo-Expressionist David Salle (New York, 1952 -). Salle earned his BFA and MFA at The California Institute of the Arts under the tutelage of John Baldessari. His work is featured in the collections of The MOMA, The MET, The LACMA, The Walker, and The Whitney. Salle is known for creating pieces that juxtapose seemingly unrelated images, often sexually oriented, from mass media. This image depicts a series of images layered on top of one another, including a line drawing of a woman, two figures in massive hats, an an abstracted yellow organic shape. The print is marked ‘IV’ and is numbered 32 of 50 in pencil to the lower left. It is signed by the artist and dated in pencil to the lower right.
