Edward Steichen Limited Edition Gelatin-Silver Print "Improvisation George Washington"

An original silver gelatin photograph from an unnumbered edition of 100 by very well-listed Luxembourgish-American photographer and curator Edward Steichen (1879-1973), titled Improvisation George Washington. This photograph was taken in 1925, but was printed by George Tice in 1982 following the artist’s death when much of Steichen’s undeveloped film was processed. The photograph depicts a trio of actors on a stage casting long shadows across a large image of George Washington’s face. The photograph is float-mounted on white and is presented in a vinyl sleeve with a tag attached to the verso. The tag is signed by both Tice and Steichen’s wife, Joanna T. Steichen.
