An original watercolor painting by listed Japanese artist Ioki Bunsai (Bunya), best-known for Western style watercolors. The painting a simple home resting on the banks of a massive lake. The painting is signed to the lower left. It is double-matted in forest and mint green and is presented behind glass in a wooden frame with gold and green finishes. A wire is attached to the piece’s verso. Bunsai was born in Mito in the late 19th century. He mentored well-known artist Hoan Kosugi. Bunsai’s body of work includes oil portraits, botanicals, and scenes of Nikko Toshogu shrine, the mausoleum of shogan Ieyasu Tokugawa.
