A fabulous retro 14K rose gold Paul Ditisheim Solvil bracelet wristwatch, circa 1940s. The watch case is rectangular with a decorative edge on either side and lovely diamond and ruby stones vertically inset to the top and bottom of the rose gold face. It has a manual wind to one side and Roman numerals to the face, with decorative black hands and a gold bead embellishment. The rose gold band band is three serpentine chains to either side with a foldover clasp and safety chain. The reverse of the case is marked ‘14K’ and ‘007096.’ Marked to the face ‘Paul Ditisheim / Solvil.’ Paul Ditisheim (Swiss, 1868-1945), was a genius inventor and watchmaker, often referred to as the ‘father of modern chronometers,’ having made significant, award-winning achievements to the field of modern chronometry.
