A pair of 19th century Scenes on the Road plates by C.B. Newhouse. These hand-colored aquatints of images originally by C.B. Newhouse were published by Thomas McLean, London, 1834-1835. They depict perilous journeys of stage coaches, and this selection includes ‘An Accommodating Fare or Gallantry before Comfort’ and ‘A Flood Tide. Ship Ahoy!!!’ The plates are printed with both the artist’s and publisher’s names around the vignette. Both are presented in black mats with gold, incised lines and in golden brown wooden frames. Hanging hardware to verso.

Condition

Some chips, scratches and markings present to frames.
