A handwoven wool Anatolian Kurdish area rug. This charming rug has a bright primary color palette of deep red, indigo, greens, mocha, ivory, shades of blue and garnet. It features a series of three hooked, hexagonal pole medallions to the center, the center medallion having a hooked and arrow pattern, the flanking two with small depictions of figural birds. The ivory field surrounding the medallions is densely populated with a variety of figural animals: peacocks, ducks, songbirds, deer, chickens, camels, horses, dogs and more. It has a compound border of small guls and checks with barber pole accents. It has a twisted and woven fringe to each end and is unmarked.
Condition
- shows wear and grime at fringes. Selvedge edges are fraying. Could be refreshed with professional cleaning.
