"The Sheik" By E.M. Hull

A 1921 edition of The Sheik by the author E.M. Hull was published by A.L. Burt Company, New York, with arrangement by Small, Maynard & Company. This book is considered to be Hull’s most popular novel which became the basis for the silent movie starring Rudolph Valentino. It is bound in red cloth with gilt lettering on the front cover and spine. This book was the first of many reviving a romantic desert setting for novels.
Condition
Wear consistent with age. The front endpaper has a hand-drawn picture of Rudolph Valentino with the previous owner’s name on the opposite page. The back endpaper has a newspaper picture announcing the movie. Several pencil markings are evident. The book has a cracked front and back hinge.
