A loomed wool Mahal-style accent rug. The rug has a vibrant red field with a central medallion featuring pendants and a scrolled pattern in deep indigo with teal, black, burnt orange, and golden ochre. It has a surrounding ivory field with palmettes and blossoms in complementary tones and large palmette designs to the spandrels. The compound borders are “broken” and feature oversized palmettes with flower blossoms flanked by a vermillion selvedge edge. It has a wool warp fringe to either end and is not marked.
