A handwoven wool Arak carpet runner. Made for export, these rugs are sometimes referred to as ‘American Sarouk.’ The carpet features a vivid ruby red field with large palmettes, vases, flower sprays and split leaves with blossoms in a palette of pale blue, ivory, black, garnet, taupe and ochre. It has a Carnation border flanked by smaller floral guard borders. It has a cotton warp fringe to either end and is tagged to the reverse ‘Made in Iran.’
