An original Impressionistic oil on canvas painting by artist Joseph Baris (Italy/Cincinnati, 1939- ). The image depicts a picturesque pastoral landscape with a single white horse grazing in the distant green grass, the foreground steeped in water lilies, cattails and colorful reflections of the rippling pond. The painting is mounted in a wooden frame with carved embellishments and a hammered gold tone finish. A hanging wire is attached to the verso as well as an artist bio. Baris immigrated to Cincinnati in 1956, where he studied periodically under Roland Huston. He initially worked primarily in watercolor and later developed an affinity for oils. He is a member of the Cincinnati Art Club and Mason Art Association.
