Antique Walnut Side Chair

Item Details

An antique walnut side chair. The piece has an overall traditional design and takes many design features from Chippendale pieces. The chair has a shell motif crest that lowers down the splat resembling a pierced ribbon back. The stiles are are turned inward. The chair has been upholstered in a blue velvet with a double welt cording adding visual interest. The front rail of the chair has a carved shell motif. The legs are cabriole in nature and supported with stretchers for stability. The knee of the chair is carved with an acanthus leaf design. The chair is unmarked by the manufacturer.

Condition

Multiple cracks consistent with the age of the piece.
