Jacqueline Correa Original Mixed Media Collage on Board
Item Details
collaged paper, antique engravings, oil pencil, watercolor, resin, very thin wood veneer
A mixed media collage on masonite by Cincinnati artist Jacqueline Correa (Copenhagen, 1932). The panel depicts a mother and her children amidst an picturesque outdoor courtyard, collaged from antique hand-colored engravings on top of faux wood veneer. Artist signature is signed to the lower right. This piece is not framed. Correa worked in furniture decoration in the 1960s. She creates works of art using photo-lithographic reproductions of 18th century European engravings. She colors the prints with oil pencils and cuts out shapes, rearranging into new patterns. Each piece is covered with forty coats of varnish and finished with a sanding technique involving rotten stop and linseed oil.
