An 1897 Victorian sterling silver and ruby glass smelling salts bottle. This antique petite ruby red glass bottle opens with a hinged sterling cap that has ornate floral motif repousse. The cap bears the hallmarks of sterling silver from Birmingham, England (lion passant, anchor) as well as the date mark x for 1897, and the maker’s mark of WHW in three overlapping squares, tentatively attributed to W.H. Weston of Birmingham.
