Collection of Vintage Corkscrews and Books Including "Old Snifter"
Item Details
A collection of vintage corkscrews and books about vintage corkscrews. This collection includes a 1933 ‘Old Snifter’ corkscrew featuring a silver-tone metal figure of a man with an exaggerated nose wearing a hat, with a foldable corkscrew in the back. The hat comes off to reveal a hat and nose acts as a bottle opener. This corkscrew features the titled ‘Old Snifter’ on the base. This corkscrew was made to make fun of Mr. Volstead, a congressman from Minnesota, who introduced the National Prohibition Act of 1919. The collection also features a smaller reproduction of the Old Snifter corkscrew, an old brass corkscrew, and a foldable corkscrew with the words ‘Le Polichinelle’ engraved on the side. These corkscrews also come with two collector’s books including Boxes Full of Corkscrews by Donald A. Bull, and Corkscrews by Fred O’Leary.
