Mid-Century Lexington, Kentucky Caro-Nan Basket Handbag

A mid-century Lexington, Kentucky themed signed Caro-Nan basket handbag, made for Wolf Wile’s. Caro-Nan handbags were originally made in the 1960s and 1970s. While all baskets share a similar shape and the characteristic penny on the lid, each handbag was personalized for the store and area in which it was sold. This particular bag was customized for Wolf Wile’s a department store in downtown Lexington, operated for 103, was last located on Main Street. The bag features distinctive landmarks of Lexington, including Keeneland, Ashland, UK, Transylvania and many others. The basket is lined in a bright yellow and cinnamon toned floral fabric.
Condition
Some wear to the finish, on one side and on the back. Wear is commensurate with age.
