A Robert Redbird Kiowa man mixed media work on paper. Robert Redbird (1939-2016) was a Native American artist from Texas who used the stories told to him by his grandfather to tell stories of the culture and tradition of the Kiowa tribe. This gouache and pastel work shows a woman in a dramatically draped cloak looking out onto the landscape. This artist also has work displayed in the United States Department of the Interior in Washington, D.C., the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Denver Art Museum, the Heritage Center, Inc. Collection in South Dakota, the Heard Museum in Phoenix, and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. The piece is signed in the lower light corner and is framed in wood with a red matting below the glass. The back is wired for hanging.
