An antique late 19th-century restrike posthumous printing of a Japanese woodblock print by well-listed woodblock master Keisai Eisen (1790 – 1848), titled Fukuroi, Stage Twenty-eight of the Tokaido Highway, block originally carved in the 1840s. The image depicts a geisha traveling by foot with two puppies, in the distance a raging bonfire warms a group of heathen men. The title, signature, artist chop mark, and printer’s marks are printed in block. This print is not framed or matted.
