Pair of Hand-Colored Engravings

Item Details

A pair of hand-colored 18th century engravings. The first engraving, created by W. Angus and first published in 1787, depicts three figures standing in a field next to a river with several cows grazing behind them. There is a small sailboat on the river and a large white building on the opposite bank. The script below the image reads, ‘Armfton in Herefordshire, the seat of Francis Woodhouse Efg.’ across the center, ‘J. Handy pinx’ to the left and ‘W. Angus sculpt’ to the right. The second print depicts several figures in the courtyard next to a grand chapel with turrets and arched windows. The text below the image reads, ‘Exterior of Kings College Chapel’ to the center, ‘F. Mackenzie’ to the left and ‘J. Le Keux’ to the right. Both prints come matted in off white and framed in gold tone wood frames.
