Item Details

An antique Grand Rapids School Furniture Company antique school desk. Built in the style of the 1885 patent filed by S. W. Peregrine, the desk was built between 1886 and 1906, when the company became the American Seating Company. The desk features a stacked plank desk top, back and seat. The desk has a carved pencil groove to the top and the seat articulates to fold up. The base is made of cast iron and fixed to a wooden rail base. The cast iron bears the marks ‘Grand Rapids S.F.Co’, ‘PAT. SEP. 22d 1885’ and the number ‘5.’

- scratches consistent with age.
