Ukiyo-E, a type of art meaning pictures of the floating world, has had many masterful artists including Yoshitoshi. A book featuring his art is the first edition of Yoshitoshi: The Splendid Decadent which was written by Shinichi Segi (Kodansha International Ltd., Tokyo, 1985). Color Woodblock Printmaking: The Traditional Method of Ukiyo-E, written by Margaret Miller Kanada, was published by Shufunotomo Co., Inc., Tokyo, 1989. A five volume set in the series Masterworks of Ukiyo-E highlights different artists of this genre of art.
