Tom Lohre Original Oil on Canvas "Fountain Square ILIX"
Item Details
An original oil on canvas stretched on popular board painting titled Fountain Square ILIX by contemporary Cincinnati artist and inventor Tom Lohre, painted December 19, 2014. The painting is inspired by the artist’s innovative 9-color blob paintings, which are made by a machine Lohre invented to paint by melting oil pastels onto a metal plate. Lohre had painted Cincinnati’s Fountain Square over 50 times; here, it is depicted in bright abstracted patches of color. The painting is signed to the lower left. It is presented in a wooden frame with Neopolitan simulated gold leaf finish and seamless corners. There is additional information about the painting affixed to the verso. Lohre is an artist and scientist who learned his practice from master portrait painter Ralph Wolf Cowan. The artist’s website can be found under Additional Information.
