This watercolor by listed Ohio artist and Cincinnati Art Academy teacher Reginald Leslie Grooms (1900 – 1989) presents a beautiful and calm beach scene. Featured are an assortment of grasses and foliage native to certain beach areas. Accents of driftwood fragments and branches are also typical. Notice the clearing sky and the lone bird flying overhead while small puddles of water sink into the sand. As you look out into the marsh, you can’t help but wonder about what may lie beyond. In typical Groom fashion – brilliant! (The owner feels confident this is a Grooms watercolor but no signature is visible).
Condition
This watercolor is single matted. The overall piece is very good. There is some waviness to the paper (not uncommon for watercolors). The mat is in excellent condition. The frame is gold patina and is very good except for a couple of small dings.

The measurements listed above are for the frame. The mat opening is 21" wide x 13 1/4" in height.
