An original signed woodblock print entitled ‘Vien in Worcester’ by well-listed American Modernist artist, writer and teacher, Leonard Baskin (1922 – 2000) who is perhaps best-known for his association with writers Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath, as well as his commission work on the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial. His work belongs to many prominent permanent collections both public and private including The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. This particular 1952 print depicts three male figures in the foreground, a woman standing to the right of the composition, two dogs, and a cityscape in the background.The print is pencil signed in the lower right corner, and titled in pencil in the lower left corner. The print is housed in a black painted wooden frame and linen matting.
Condition
Good, paper slightly wavy, minor chips and scuffs on frame.
