Create a Downton Abbey evening with this amazing early 20th Century black dress embellished with black hand embroidered silk and hand beaded jet black glass medallions throughout front and back. Features an ivory hand stitched lace collar with rounded neckline, open cut out sleeves near top revealing the arms, tapering down to wide cut 3/4 length sleeves with slits. Left sleeve has snap closures starting at shoulder then trailing down side. Along with the hand embroidered medallions are machine stitched ribbons throughout, dropped waist and cumberbun with oval framed detail to left hip made with fabric covered buttons wired together with weighted pleated panel and falls gracefully to ankle, circa 1920’s. Mary and Edith Grantham would get in a cat fight over this dress!
Condition
a few snaps need replaced or resewn on sleeve, rust spot near iron weights on panel, light faded spot near snap closure on arm pit, overall good for age.
