Pair of Signed Egyptian Paintings on Papyrus
Item Details
A pair of original signed Egyptian gouache paintings on papyrus. The portrait-oriented painting depicts a tree filled with colorful birds, with an ink signature to the left of the tree. The second work, a horizontal piece signed to the lower right, is a depiction of ‘The Great Cackler’, a celestial goose who laid the egg from which Ra, the sun god and creator of the world, emerged. The geese are after a work in an ancient tomb at Maidum. Both works are displayed under glass with cream mats in gold tone metal frames.
