Item Details
A Franklin Mint Emperors of The Orient chess set. This 1992 set was designed by Yao Youxin (20th c., Chinese). The painted porcelain game pieces depict rivaling Chinese and Japanese teams, consisting of emperors and empresses, Samurai and Manchu warriors, priests, palaces and temples, ninjas, and palace guards. The green and white marble board is set into a squared black base with patterned friezes bearing rosette medallions and Chinese style bracket feet.
