Chinese Four-Panel Screen with Jade Appliques

Item Details

A four-panel Chinese screen designed with applied carved jade elements. The left side of the piece shows three women seated at a loom or game table, with a three woman standing and observing their activity; another woman is shown plucking a red flower from a low shrub. A towering tree to the left background is composed of various green and gray stones, and beyond towering mountains and trees are also created from the layers of stone. On the right side is a low palm tree set among boulders. The entire composition is laid upon a gilded background and framed in a black and gold geometrically-patterned lacquered frame. The backs are outfitted with hanging hardware.

Condition

generally good, with some minor bumps and scratches to areas of stone and some finish wear to frames
