An original late 19th-century watercolor painting on paper by well-known Cincinnati physician and artist Dr. A. Graeme Mitchell (1889-1941). The image depicts a luminous blue and green sea with brightly painted empty wooden boats awaiting passengers in the foreground. The painting is unsigned but comes directly from a large collection that was stock for Closson’s Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio. Presented without frame or matting. Mitchell was a prominent physician in Cincinnati and even served as the Children’s Hospital director at one point in his career. Mitchell was also well-known and respected as a painter and etcher and attempted to preserve the history of Cincinnati in his work.
