An antique U.S. Army spyglass owned by Edward F. Abbott, and personal photograph. Edward F. Abbott is a West Point Class of 1847 graduate, and U.S. Army Major. According to West Point records, Abbott served in the Mexican War and on the Western Frontier for seven years, before resigning to become a ‘street railway executive.’ The spyglass brass eye ring is etched with ‘7th Infantry, U.S. Army,’ and includes an original leather case.
