The artist’s signature, ‘Kipniss’ appears to the lower right, and the painting is presented in a wood frame. Kipness received his Master of Fine Arts degree in painting and art History from the University of Iowa in 1954. The artist has received numerous awards for his work, and has been featured in several published books. His work is held in the permanent collections of both The Whitney Museum of Art and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The National Collection of Fine Arts, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC, The British Museum, London, England, and The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, just to name a few.
