A painted cast iron hatchet from 1889 commemorating the 100th anniversary of President George Washington’s inauguration. Hatchet features a red blade with a cameo of President Washington with a painted ivory finish, and a black handle with raised molded text in an Art Nouveau font reading ’Washington Inauguration, President of the US April 30th, 1789.
