An original aquatint etching by the artist Maurice Levis (France, 1860-1940). This lithograph depicts a village landscape on a river with hills in the background. The lithograph has been numbered 15 in the lower left margin in pencil and signed by the artist in the lower right margin also in pencil. This lithograph is matted and housed within a green and copper tone decorative wood frame. Ready to hang.

Maurice Levis (France, 1860-1940) was a renowned landscape and genre artist whose career spanned several significant historical art movements. In the late 1870s Levis began studying at the Académie Julian. In 1888 Levis joined the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris. He traveled extensively through France and Africa. During his career, he continued to exhibit his work at the annual Salon and sold his work in galleries in London and Paris. In 1895 Levis received the Medal of Distinction at the Salon, in 1896 he won a third place metal, and in 1927 he won the first place medal following his death.
