Early Nineteenth-Century Knife Box
Item Details
An early nineteenth-century knife box. The antique English knife box, ca. 1820, is made of mahogany. The box is a simple, oblong rectangle with a round-edged lid. The smooth, round-edged wood lid slides into slots on the top of the box to access the interior, and has a rounded pull tab. The box also has a rounded tab at the top with a drilled hole for hanging on the wall. The back of the box is attached to the box’s sides with slotted brass screws. The box comes with a hand-written provenance on a receipt from P.M. Norden & Peter Norden, Fine Period Furniture and Metalware, Antiques, Moreton-in-Marsh.
Condition
Chips scuffs and scratches consistent with age and normal use.
