An original signed presidential letter appointing Edward F. Abbott to Second Lieutenant in the Fifth Regiment of Infantry. Letter is signed February 7, 1848 by President James Polk, the 11th President of the United States. This document includes the United States of American War Office Seal and is presented under glass in a black and gold tone edged wood frame.
