19th Century Chinese Imperial Dragon Robe

A 19th century Chinese Qing Dynasty period, silk on silk embroidered Imperial dragon robe depicting auspicious Imperial five-clawed dragons reaching the ‘Flaming’ pearl of wisdom symbolizing the emperor, bat longevity symbols, Shou character medallions, Daoist symbols, clouds and contrasting lishui border waves on the bottom hemline representing the elements, with treasures emerging from the water symbolizing continuous luck, intricate detail throughout, and traditional horse hoof sleeves. The front of this piece has faded to hues of bronze, black, blue and white, but the back is much more colorful and in multi-color silk threading. Damage to the lining as shown, but still such a wonderful display piece and beautiful representation of traditional Chinese Textile Art.

One side shows heavy fading, and the lining is damaged as shown..
