An original oil on board abstract painting by well-listed American artist Paul Chidlaw (1900-1989). The painting depicts a portrait oriented green and yellow abstraction with quick brush strokes. It is signed in white paint to the lower right. Presented without glass in a black wooden frame with white linen trim.
Chidlaw was born in Cleves, Ohio and studied at both the Cincinnati Art Academy and L’Ecole des Beaux Arts in Fontainebleau, France. He returned to Cincinnati where he then taught at the Art Academy mentoring many students. He was considered a pioneer of the Abstract movement, at the time, and he remains one of Cincinnati’s best-loved native artists. His artwork is displayed in the Cincinnati Art Museum and Xavier University.

to fair- light accretion across. Paint has been chipped and worn away from lower and left edges where the frame once rubbed.Dimensions
