A duo of Japanese wood block prints by artist Kawase Hasui (1883 – 1957, Japan). This duo features a print titled ‘Moon Clouds at Tayhama Mountain’ from 1962 depicting trees and lights to the foreground and the Tayhama mountain to the background. The left print, titled and dated, ‘Moonrise over Temple Island, 1962’, depicts trees layered from the foreground to the background with the glowing moon to the distance. This print states: ‘Paint corrected original December 1961’. Kawase Hasui is a distinguished artist and printmaker of the Shin-hanga movement of ‘new prints’. Prints are presented in frames with a thin border with cream matting.
