A pair of prints of Russian paintings. The first is titled ‘Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks to Sultan Mehmed IV of the Ottoman Empire’ by Ilya Repin and Troika depicting the Cossacks of Saporog drafting a Manifesto. The second piece is titled ‘Apprentice Workmen Carrying Water’ by Vasily Grigorievich Vasilievsky depicting a sobering image of child labor in a cold, windy and desolate setting. The titles and artists are identified in print in Russian to the bottom of the prints. Both are presented under glass with off white mats in matching wood frames with metallic gold accents and beading. Both have wires on the back for hanging.
