A stunning contemporary oil on canvas copy painting of very well-listed French artist Jacques-Louis David’s (1748-1825) painting, titled Napoleon Crossing the Alps. The famous image was originally a series of five almost identical paintings of the same title completed by the artist from 1801-1805. The painting depicts French military and political leader Napoléon Bonaparte pointing forward towards a formidable peak in the Swiss Alps as his horse valiantly bucks beneath him. The painting is signed ‘A. Hulk’ in green paint to the lower right. It is presented in a contemporary wide wooden frame with cast embellishments and gold-toned finish.
