Joan Miró Mixed Media Print "Sur Quatre Murs"

Item Details

A mixed media print titled Sur Quatre Murs (On Four Walls) by well-listed Spanish artist Joan Miro (1893-1983), created in 1951. The print has a stone lithograph background with serigraph forms. The print was designed by Miró after a mural he painted at Harkness Commons of Harvard Law School, today housed in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York. The print is unsigned and not numbered. It is one of 1200 copies published in the art review ‘Derrière le Miroir’ (thus the two creases in paper). It is presented behind glass in a thin black wooden frame with beveled white wood matting, ready to hang.

Derrière le Miroir (DLM) was an exhibition catalogue that was founded in 1946 and continuously published by Galerie Maeght until 1982. For each issue, Galerie Maeght would commission a number of lithographs by the artist or artists featured in their current exhibition. Often, they would also produced a signed and numbered edition for those who might be able to afford it.

Condition

- light debris between glass and matting. Scratching across frame.
