An original oil on canvas nude female portrait by listed Cincinnati artist, Robert O’Neal (b. 1940). O’Neal was born in Northern Kentucky, later relocating to Cincinnati where he attended Withrow High School, while taking art classes at the Cincinnati Art Academy. He completed his art education from the Gebhardt Commercial Arts School in Cincinnati. O’Neal is recognized as one of twenty-five African American artists featured in an art show at the prestigious Closson’s Gallery, in 1994, and has always been a champion for the arts in Cincinnati, as well as an advocate for the homeless, possessing the honorary title of Over-The Rhine Mayor. The portrait features a seated nude female, composed in excited dry brushwork of peach and yellow hues. The brunette female rests her right arm along the loosely composed chair she sits on. She is painted against colorful yellow and blues. Signed to the middle right margins. The painting is presented in a reeded gold gilt frame with wire hanging to verso.
