A vintage Madame Alexander ‘Heidi’ doll. Madame Alexander is a brand of collectible dolls established in 1923 by Beatrice Alexander. She created the first collectible dolls based on a licensed character from a movie, television show, or book. She was also one of the first to create dolls in honor of living people. This particular doll is based on the character ‘Heidi’ from the Swiss author Johanna Spyri’s fiction children’s book, numbered 1580. It was produced as part of the Classic Series in 1970-1985. Her dress is green with a white apron, and her hair is double braided topped with a straw hat.
